John is an in-demand dramaturg and script editor. His skills as a working director and writer in theatre, opera and recently screen, give him deep insight into the realities and practicalities of production as well as the challenges and joys of the creative process. John most recently worked as Literary Manager of Australian Plays – the national digital theatre publisher where he curated, assessed, edited and published over 350 plays, and several new Collections, commissioned essays and interviews.

John has been a judge and assessor on major playwriting prizes such as the UK’s Bruntwood Prize and the Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance’s Saroyan Prize. He holds a Master of Arts (Advanced Theatre Practice) in Dramaturgy from the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama.
